At the two-day meeting of the Nawades project held in Barcelona on the 26th and 27th of March significant progresses in the work carried out by the partners were presented. On the first day of the meeting partners discussed technical and scientific issues regarding the evolution of the project. The scientific advisory board attended this meeting and motivated the partners by confirming good project progress and the right choice in technology upscaling options.

On the second day, a visit to the desalinization plant of El Prat de Llobregat, coordinated with the Catalan Water Agency and the company ATLL, provided precious information to understand the working of one of Europe’s most modern and efficient facilities for the treatment of sea water. It is foreseen that the plant of El Prat de Llobregat will host a pilot plant of the Nawades project to be installed in late 2014/early 2015.

Later in the morning, the consortium moved to the headquarters of Leitat to carry on with the meeting and discuss the upcoming demonstration and  the preliminary evaluations in view of energy usage, system reliability & economics as well as life cycle assessment and sustainability assessment.
